Lowe Foundation

Social impact has always been an integral part of LOWE’s business practice and the LOWE Foundation is the manifestation of this as the charitable arm of our organisation. In 2016 LOWE was founded to address the growing need to provide safe, affordable housing for the key workers and professionals in London, and provide reliable security and a beating heart for the empty properties throughout the city. In the past we have formed partnerships with charities such as St Mungo’s, LandAid and Spires Streatham who are all dedicated to alleviating homelessness in London. This year, we want to take it one step further.

LOWEKey Ambassadors

Guardianship is more than a living alternative, it is lifestyle. At LOWE we are committed to unlocking aspirations through affordable housing. We have seen guardians go to war-torn countries to provide aid and medical attention, make the Forbes 30 Under 30, be nominated for a Mercury Prize and fight on the medical frontier during the Coronavirus pandemic. The sheer diversity and calibre of LOWE Guardians is astounding, and presents an amazing opportunity to connect like minded people and foster collaboration. So many guardians choose guardianship not only for its affordability, but also for its community, opportunity and sustainability.

Our aim is to give our guardians the space and infrastructure to support them in their endeavours and to connect them with resources and each other. To this end, we have launched the LOWEkey Ambassador Programme. We are looking for passionate guardians who are driven both in their work, their individual projects and are invested in bringing together the LOWE community through the LOWEkey network.

We use a Buy1Give1 scheme to generate our monthly giving. For every property we take on, we donate £250 to a chosen charity. For every guardian who takes a room, we donate £10. All donations go to our partner charity, Spires Streatham, as well as a charity close to the hearts of one of our guardians or staff. Thus far, in 2020, we have made donations to AfriKids, CALM, Plastic Oceans and Client Earth. We are feeding this giving scheme into volunteer action as we develop a network of relationships across charities and guardians.

Fundraising is also an excellent way for us to come together as a community and raise money for great causes. There is flexibility for LOWE staff to volunteer during work hours and get support for the causes they are passionate about. We understand that as a business we must lead the change we want to see.

Engagement requires real action. Primarily we are looking to work with housing associations and property services to house key workers through targeted marketing and prioritisation. We are also developing workspaces so we can provide subsidised office space for innovative start-ups. We also want to use our amazing LOWE network that comprises of over 600 guardians and a diverse client base to foster opportunities for mentorship and create a network to connect people with resources and services.
