MEET THE TEAM: Jacob
Having joined LOWE mid-June as a Property Inspector, we are thrilled to welcome Jacob to our team. With a ready laugh and the freshest kicks in town, our guardians can expect to see Jacob around their properties, making sure our guardians are safe and everything is kept in tip-top shape. Our Community Manager Millie sat down with Jacob to find out a bit more about his past experience and what he hopes to bring to LOWE.
What did you do for work before LOWE?
My first job was at Camden Council, where I worked a Customer Support Advisor – let me tell you, when it comes to parking, you really see people’s true colours!
I then worked at Gatwick Airport as a security officer for eight years. This role gave me a really good outlook on what is needed when it comes to health and safety and making sure things are done by the book. As you can imagine, I had a great insight into what makes good customer service, when dealing with both good and bad customers. COVID-19 has had a big impact on the aviation industry and so I made the decision that it was the right time to move on and try something new.
How did you find out about LOWE? And what was it that cemented your decision to join LOWE?
I actually got very lucky! Having spent a day blowing the cobwebs off my decade old CV, I spoke to a recruiter who had a lot of experience working with LOWE, and the next thing I know I am on an online interview their Senior Property Manager. I didn’t know much about the guardian set-up before LOWE and it sounded like something exciting I wanted to get involved in. Having checked out the website after doing a little bit of research, I decided that this was definitely a company I wanted to join.
What does your day involve?
I couldn’t believe the variety of buildings there are. From the care homes to the convent, there is just so much diversity. I especially enjoy exploring the banks and having a poke around the vaults.
What do you think you bring to the LOWE team?
I am dependable team player who is always willing to get stuck in to any task. I’m also always cool, calm and collected.
And which property is your favourite?
That’s tricky. I really like the former nursery in West Norwood, those large rooms out the back are amazing, and the guardians have done such a good job decorating. But my absolute favourite has to be the mansion out in Sawbridgeworth. It is such a great space with the gardens, tennis court and grandeur of the house is unreal.
Can we talk about your shoes? What are your favourite ones?
I’ve always loved trainers but this last year I have really kicked it up a notch. I’m now waking up at 7am to get in the limited-edition raffles. I lost out on some off-white Nikes last weekend, so it’s a bit of a sensitive subject. It’s so hard choosing a favourite but it would have to be one of my Yeezies, probably the zebra ones I have on now. I actually have 20 pairs at the moment and have invested in see-through boxes for them…
So when you see Jacob around, say hey and be sure to compliment him on his sneaks!
